Riviera Beach police continue to aggressively follow every lead in a double homicide that left a man and a child dead on Sunday night.

Martavious Carn, 3, and his mother’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Amir Stepherson, were shot and killed Sunday night in Riviera Beach.

They were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot at 4250 Leo Ln. when shots were fired by one or more people on foot.

Carn’s mother, who was also in the vehicle, was not hurt in the shooting which happened about 9:42 p.m.

Carn and Stepherson were pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief of Police Clarence Williams said the incident was out of retaliation, and not a random act of violence.

A police spokesperson said there was an ongoing dispute over property between Stepherson and some other people.

"What are detectives doing right now to try to solve this case?," WPTV asked Rose Anne Brown, the spokeswoman for the Riviera Beach Police Department. "Almost working around the clock following up on not just this county any leads," she explained.

Community outrage over the child’s death has prompted several tips.

“We believe we’re heading in the right direction and additional information as it comes in is consistent with what we originally received,” police spokeswoman Roseanne Brown said.

Monday afternoon police towed away two cars from an area near 45th Street and Military, which is a short distance from the shooting scene. Investigators say it is connected to their investigation.

"There were some individuals in that car that we wound up being able to question," explained Rose Anne.

Neighbors want an arrest soon.

Andrea Sabater saw everything Sunday night.

"Hear the moms screams. They penetrated my soul. I can hear it, I can feel her pain."

Andrea says she would see Martavious around the apartment complex.

"Bouncing, Happy, Joyful," says Sabater.
