Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has named an official chief administrator, and they didn't have to go too far.
Interim Chief Michael Mackey is now the permanent man in charge, according to county officials.
Mackey took over for former chief Jeff Collins, who says he was forced to resign in January. Sources tell Contact 5 the resignation was pushed, over his handling of harassment complaints.
Mackey told Contact 5 in January, he has less than a year before retirement.
Mackey takes over a department hit by several lawsuits in the last 2 years. The lawsuits allege harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
