Palm Beach County’s new Supervisor of Elections is now moving on to a cyber-security system that the county passed on a year earlier.
"We've already been in touch with the Division of Elections and they are reopening the grant process for us,” said Wendy Sartory Link.
The system, called Albert, is a security monitor that is used in the 66 other counties in Florida.
“These funds came about because of the 2016 election cycle and the hacking and attempts at hacking into systems,” said Martin County Supervisor of Elections Vicki Davis.
Sartory Link was appointed Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections after Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Susan Bucher in the aftermath of the 2018 vote recounts.
Much of the security improvements in the election process are focused on the coming presidential election in 2020.
“We'll be full speed. We'll have the Albert server and as you know we're getting the new machines and they have built in security better than what we have now,” Sartory Link says.
