LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Lake Worth Beach that killed a pedestrian Tuesday morning.

The wreck happened in the area of Dixie Highway and 7th Avenue North.

Deputies say a 2005 Cadillac SUV with Florida tag # CPG1015 was traveling northbound in the 600 block of N. Dixie Highway at 6:03 a.m. when the pedestrian improperly crossed from the east side of Dixie Highway to the west side and was struck.

Some who work and live near the incident say they often see people who are nearly hit crossing the road and, unfortunately, a tragedy like this was only a matter of time.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the victim was 39-year-old Sharon Lea Trent.

No information has been released regarding the suspected vehicle at this time.
