PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- As the 2020 presidential election approaches, Hispanic voters are growing in numbers in Palm Beach County.

Current numbers show over 116,000 Hispanics registered to vote, up by 6,000 from a year ago.

“If you’re a politician you have to take them into account,” says Juan Pagan of the Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Pagan says Census projections have the Hispanic population rising to as high as 30 percent in the county in the next 10 years.

Rolando Chang Barrero, the head of the Hispanic Democratic Party in Palm Beach County is trying to help Hispanics register for the 2020 election.

“We are committed to get everyone registered how they vote is up to them,” Barreo says.

In Palm Beach County, 31 percent of Hispanic voters are registered as Republican.
