PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — An early-morning fire Sunday displaced seven people, including five children, at an apartment complex west of Lantana.
At 1:30 a.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a possible fire on the 2000 block of Donnelly Drive in the Villas at Cove Crossing development.
Capt. Albert Borroto said callers reported smoke inside the apartment.
First-arriving firefighters reported nothing showing and entered the apartment to investigate.
Crews later reported a fire in the kitchen area of the apartment that had been extinguished by sprinklers prior to their arrival.
Firefighters ventilated the home of smoke, said Borroto.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist two adults and five children displaced by this fire.
