PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s said a motorcyclist died Wednesday evening after he was hit by an 82-year-old driver on Military Trail near West Palm Beach.
The report said a four-door Toyota was heading northbound on Military Trail in the left turn lane at Zip Code Place at 5:38 p.m.
A Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Jorge Alejandro Ruiz-Gandara, 23, or Riviera Beach, was also heading northbound on Military Trail in the outside through lane, approaching Zip Code Place.
PBSO said the driver of the Toyota decided to make a right turn onto Zip Code Place from the turn lane to turn around and then go southbound on Military Trail.
The Toyota traveled eastbound across the northbound lanes and drove into motorcyclist’s path of travel. The motorcycle overturned and slid into the passenger's side of the Toyota.
Ruiz-Gandara, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota was not hurt. The report states charges are pending in the case.
