Messages that appeared Monday on the U.S. Central Command's Twitter and YouTube accounts were attributed to ISIS.
The first in a series of tweets posted to @CentCom, billed as "The official twitter for U.S. Central Command," said "American soldiers, we are coming. Watch your back. ISIS."
Another tweet included an image with the following message:
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate under the auspices of ISIS continues its CyberJihad. While the US and its satellites kill our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we broke into your networks and personal devices and know everything about you. You'll see no mercy infidels. ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base. We won't stop! We're watching you!"
The message goes on to share a link that claims to be "a part of confidential data from your mobile devices," and ends with this:
"There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Prophet! There is no law but Sharia!"
Less than an hour after the first tweet appeared, the account was suspended. Government officials acknowledged the attack Monday afternoon, saying none of the information the hackers retained is classified.
Central Command's YouTube page showed the same cover image that appeared on the @CentCom twitter page when it was hacked. The YouTube page was also suspended.
