SPRING, Texas — A Texas man says due to the high cost of nursing homes, he has a different strategy to live out his “golden years” – set up shop in a Holiday Inn!

Terry Robison of Spring, Texas, posted on Facebook earlier this month that nursing home care averages $188 per day.

However, he says he can get a combined, long-term stay discount at Holiday Inn for the low price of $59.23 per night. That includes breakfast and some afternoon happy hours, he says.

Robison calculated he will have $128.77 a day left over for food, entertainment, room service, etc.

And since many Holiday Inns offer free toothpaste, razors, soap and shampoo, he figures he can save on toiletries too.

Robison also apparently likes the fact he will have the chance to move if he wants “to see Hawaii? They have Holiday Inn there too.”

The posts outlines many other perks to extended hotel stay like daily room service, a security man and having a pool for the grandkids.

He closes his post by saying, “When I reach that golden age, I’ll face it with a grin.”

Apparently, a few others agree with Robison. The post has been shared 111,000 times!
