A sheriff’s office in Georgia is praising six inmates who saved an officer’s life earlier this month.

In a post on the Polk County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the department said a detail officer passed out while providing security on the job last week.

The six inmates took action to render aid by grabbing the officer’s work phone and calling 911 to get EMS and officers on the scene.

The department also said they removed his outer carrier vest in attempts to help cool him off.

To celebrate the heroic acts of the inmates, the sheriff's office provided them lunch in the park and desserts prepared by the officer's family members.
