A German astronaut on Thursday tweeted some stunning sunset photos from space that are going viral.
The astronaut, Alexander Gerst, serves as the commander of the International Space Station.

Gerst’s photos show a beautiful, reddish glow from the transition of daylight to night.
The photos are simply captioned, “This is what a sunset on Earth looks like from above.”
In just a day, the pictures have been liked more than 8,500 times and received more than 1,800 comments.
