MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — K-9s with the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Jupiter and Stuart police departments were given custom-fit Kevlar vests Thursday.
K-9 Strong Inc. is behind the new layer of protection. The non-profit formed after Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office K-9 Cigo was shot and killed in the line of duty on Christmas Eve in 2018.
The K-9s will start using the vest immediately.
