A new study by the Breast Cancer Fund says 30 percent of Halloween face paints contain a harmful chemical linked to breast cancer.
The study says kids’ face paints can be contaminated by heavy metals including lead and cadmium, which can also alter brain development.
Scientists tested 48 Halloween face paints for the presence of heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead and mercury.
According to their findings, 21 of the items had trace amounts of at least one heavy metal. Some products contained as many as four metals.
