PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.-- The price of gas is near a summertime low. According to AAA, drivers are now paying an average $2.42 per gallon and prices could continue to drop.

A Sunoco in Palm Beach Gardens, off PGA Boulevard, has gas a few cents lower at $2.39 per gallon.

This year’s national average is 20 cents less per gallon than the same time last year.

According to AAA, the highest price this summer was $2.70 per gallon in July. Compared to all other states, Florida has the 14th lowest average.

A AAA spokesman says the dip in prices comes from oil prices that remain lower than last year and the highest gas prices of the year are behind us.
