PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A sea turtle found off our waters has consumed 100 pieces of plastic.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center says the turtle was recovering from surgery to remove a fishing hook.

The turtle, named Zatanna, passed over 100 pieces of plastic in one week. Everything from bottle caps, plastic cutlery, garbage and zip lock bags.

Gumbo Limbo says the turle likely consumed the plastic in open water where floating mats of trash are sadly becoming the norm.
