Thanksgiving is traditionally a time when we gather with our families to celebrate gratitude — presumably for each other (among other things). But let’s be honest. Getting the whole gang together can be a mixed blessing. We love time with our relatives, but too much time together can lead to frayed nerves. Maybe a well-timed and delicious prank would be the perfect way to lighten the mood?
Sarah Hardy, a baker from London, has the perfect dessert with which to bring some happiness to the holiday. Picture this: Your family has just enjoyed a glorious Thanksgiving meal, including a perfectly cooked turkey with all the trimmings. Despite the feast, everyone has managed to save room for dessert. So you go to the kitchen and bring out what everyone’s been anticipating — a raw turkey!
No, this isn’t an extra bird you forgot to put in the oven. All it takes is one slice into this turkey to discover it’s actually a cake!
Hardy designed this cake to look like a raw turkey and the similarity is shocking. We bet your guests’ reactions would go from shocked and horrified to laughing themselves silly.
Hardy is the owner of The Edible Museum, an online confectionary shop that specializes in handmade and painted chocolates. Her real passion, though, is recreating unexpected sculptures of everything from wildlife to human organs.
“I used to be a sculptor and when I had children I stopped being able to work in the way I had — eventually it just popped out in cake form because with kids you get to have birthday parties,” Sarah told Bored Panda. “I do love a celebration!”
Hardy recently shared her raw turkey cake on Twitter and the video went viral. It currently has more than 4.2 million views. People just can’t get enough of Hardy’s creativity and twisted sense of humor.

You don’t need to hire Hardy to make this unique cake for your own Thanksgiving holiday, as she’s graciously shared the whole recipe and process on her personal baking blog. With some basic baking ingredients, some time and a bit of patience, you can re-create this eyebrow-raising cake yourself. How do you think your family would react?
Happy Turkey Day!
