MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — A prescribed burn is underway in Hobe Sound near I-95, Martin County Fire Rescue officials confirmed with WPTV.
The 225-acre burn is taking place at the Dupois Loxahatchee River Management area.
Fire rescue says that crews are getting ahead of the upcoming brush fire season by burning an area with high potential for catching fire.
Controlled burns are ignited to manage land, reduce wildfire hazards and restore ecosystems.
