MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — A downed power line sparked a brush fire near a residential community in Martin County Tuesday morning.
Fire rescue crews and sheriff's deputies responded to the fire in Foxwood Estates near SW Meadowlark Circle, off Pratt Whitney Road.
The fire was about one acre in size and between two structures. Crews extinguished the fire before it reached any homes. No one was evacuated, no injuries were reported and the fire is now under control.
The power was initially out in the area, but FPL is on scene assessing the situation.
The Florida Forestry Service plowed a line around the scorched area to prevent the fire from spreading further.
