The rise of immersive 360-degree media

Call it a real-world panorama as far as the eye can see. Immersive 360-degree photography is just about everywhere these days. And those behind the omnidirectional lenses say they can't wait to see what's next for the medium.

When most photographers look for that one perfect shot, Daniel Holton likes to take things to new dimensions; three dimensions to be exact.

As a Google Street View-certified Trusted Photographer, Holton's lens not only takes you there, the photographer says immersive media now gives us more reasons to care.

"It triggers empathy." said Holton, "It's a way to take a viewer and give them something more than just a standard picture."

Holton's work goes beyond static 3D photographs. Some of his company's most dynamic projects include showcasing the world's most beautiful backdrops through 360 videos, stitched together with cameras from every angle.

"We're all still learning about it." said Holton, "The technology is moving so fast and we're in this new VR filmmaking world that the rules haven't really been defined."
