An alligator wrestler was rushed to the hospital after he was bitten by a gator at Miccosukee Indian Village in Miami-Dade Monday, officials said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the man was taken by ground to Kendall Regional Hospital with injuries to his hands.

The victim, John Kyo Osceola Jr., had about a dozen bite marks but no stitches were required. He said he was attempting a trick at the time and that it was his first accident.

"Obviously things happen, you know, it's a wild gator, he's not tamed, trained, domesticated, sedated. He can do anything, and I even say in the shows, 'Have your cameras ready. You never know what’s gonna happen,'" he said.

Osceola said he has lots of experience wrestling gators and said his father and other family members also wrestle them.

The village, off U.S. 41 in the Everglades, features alligator wrestling with tribal members, airboat rides and other attractions.
