PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. (AP) — A woman has died after she was run over by a tow truck carrying a cargo container at Port Everglades.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that 40-year-old Luisa Anderson died Monday afternoon after a golf cart she was driving collided with a mule truck, which is similar to a tractor-trailer, at an intersection.
Deputies say Anderson was ejected from the golf cart and run over by the truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives say the intersection where the crash happened doesn't have stop signs or traffic signals.
Hours before the incident, officials say a man was hospitalized after being seriously injured when a container flipped over at the port.
Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles says the man is expected to survive.
