Wild police chase from roads to cow pasture in Marion County, Florida

Posted

MARION COUNTY, Fla. --You've seen those high-speed car chases on endless highways shot from high in the sky but when was the last time you saw a chase through the backwoods, plowing through fences and dodging cows?

Dash-cam video shot Wednesday by a Marion County Sheriff's deputy looked more like a chase scene from the old TV show 'The Dukes of Hazzard.'

Deputies got a report of a stolen pickup truck and the chase began.

The suspect tried to lose the deputies in a cloud of dust on dirt roads. And when that didn't work he went off-road across cattle pastures, through wooded areas and he destroyed several fences in the process.

A few cows got in the way but fortunately, they moved in time.

Some forty minutes later, deputies finally closed in on the stolen pickup.

You could hear one deputy say his car already had a lot of damage and he volunteered to pull along side and push the pickup sideways until it came to a stop.

At that point, deputies arrested Gregory Walker.

His excuse:  "I was just giving ya'll something to do. Sorry. I was just giving ya'll something to do."

Walker was charged with larceny, resisting an officer without violence and fleeing and eluding police.
