HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Police in South Florida are looking for a driver who was caught on camera hitting a Florida state trooper last month in Broward County.

The footage shows the trooper flying over the car's hood and landing on the side of a highway.

The hit and run happened in the middle of heavy traffic along the Turnpike near the Pines Boulevard exit on May 25.

Trooper Arsenio Caballero was outside his vehicle, speaking to a driver. Off to the left, another trooper was talking to a driver in a white car.

Caballero then crosses the road and is almost on the shoulder when the driver of the white car decides to simply speed away, hitting Caballero as he or she pulls into traffic.

The other trooper then took off on foot to try to help.

Caballero, who had been working as a trooper for a year, is out of the hospital and continues to recover at home.

The car that hit him was found later abandoned, but the driver has not been located.

Police are urging anyone with information about the driver to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477(TIPS). You may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
