OAK HILL, Fla. (AP) — When a postal carrier and motorist found a 2-year-old boy in a soiled diaper wandering a busy central Florida road alone, they called law enforcement, and a deputy knew where to look for the parents.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the deputy went to the home of 28-year-old Yajaira Tirado and 25-year-old Jacob Krueger since he recognized the boy from a previous check on the home for other child neglect allegations.

The sheriff's office says the couple was passed out in their Oak Hill home and only woke up when the deputy banged on the home's walls.

The boy was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. The parents are facing neglect charges.

Online court records showed no attorney listed for them.
