COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A death investigation is underway after three people were found shot to death in the middle of the Everglades.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the bodies were discovered shortly after noon Thursday in the 54200 block of Tamiami Trail East, in Ochopee.

"I just knew there was something wrong, bad wrong," said Jim Bronson, who found the bodies.

Bronson says he spotted the car early Thursday morning parked along Tamiami Trail, about 5 miles west of the Miami-Dade County line.

He saw a woman in the front seat.

"Well, she was slumped over to the passenger's side and, you know, there was blood on her face, and I could tell that her eyes were open, and I just knew there was something wrong."

Bronson said the woman looked like she as in her 30s.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office says the bodies found in the car are a man, woman, and female juvenile. However, they say they are not looking for suspects in the case.

Officials said they believe the death investigation is related to a death investigation in Miami.

The sheriff's office has not yet identified the victims.
