Swimmer dies after being rescued off Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a man has died after rescuers pulled him out of the ocean in Florida.

The 27-year-old was swimming in the ocean Saturday night when he became distressed. Jacksonville Beach police say he was in cardiac arrest when he was pulled from the ocean.

Rescuers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the unidentified swimmer, but the Florida Times-Union reports he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
