Study: Florida ranks 4th in U.S. for poor driving

A new study finds Florida has some of the worst drivers in the country.

According to the consumer website, SmartAsset, Florida is tied for the 4th worst state when it comes to poor drivers.

SmartAsset looked at the percentage of drivers who are insured, the number of DUI arrests and traffic deaths, and how often residents Google terms like "traffic ticket" or "speeding ticket."

Sadly, the study found 73 percent of drivers in Florida have insurance, which is the lowest rate in the nation. When it comes to DUIs, there are around two DUI incidents per every 1,000 drivers. Florida also has the 11th highest rate of Google searches for traffic-related tickets.

According to the study, the states with the worst drivers are:

  • 1) Mississippi
  • 2) Alabama
  • 3) California
  • 4) Florida, Nevada, Texas (Tie)

The states with the best drivers are:

  • 1) Massachusetts
  • 2) Nebraska
  • 3) Vermont
  • 4) New York
  • 5) Connecticut
