FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale police say a middle schooler stole his teacher’s keys and took the car for a joyride.
According to a police report, the 13-year-old stole the keys earlier this month and then a few days later took the car for a spin, abandoning it a few hundred feet from the school.
The police report says five middle schoolers got into a fight the next day, allegedly punching and stabbing a classmate they thought snitched. The Associated Press is not identifying any students involved because they are minors.
The victim received minor injuries.
Police say one student is facing a grand theft motor vehicle charge and the other students are facing felony charges of aggravated battery.
The Sun Sentinel reports the teacher whose car was taken and the principal of William Dandy Middle declined comment.
