LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies say a stray bullet fatally struck 28-year-old Florida man as he stood outside a restaurant where he had been watching a World Cup game.
Seminole County Sheriff's investigators say Victor Emanuel Brown and Jorge Vega-Rosado were fighting on the other side of the parking lot early Sunday morning.
Brown fired a gun, but missed his target. The bullet traveled across the parking lot and struck Daniel Strada in the eye.
Authorities say Vega-Rosada then fired several shots, killing Brown.
Prosecutors say Brown didn't have a concealed carry license. Had he survived, they say he would have been charged with killing Strada. They aren't charging Vega-Rosada because he fired in self-defense.
The incident happened in Lake Mary, which is north of Orlando in central Florida.
