Staff members had the option to return to the school on Friday, but this is the first full day back for all of them.

Crime scene tape still surrounds the school, and the Broward County Sheriff's Office is positioned outside the entrance.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was also on hand Monday morning to help deputies check identifications as staff members pulled into the parking lot.

They also had some community members greeting them outside to show support.

Several people held signs showing the teachers and staff how much they care.

"They’re just such wonderful people, and they’re having such a hard time. They’ve seen the nastiest thing you could ever imagine.  I know some in particular who said at first they couldn’t come back until they talked to some of the students, who said we really need you,” said Irma Parone, a resident of Coral Springs.

Students will be back at school Wednesday through Friday on a modified, half-day schedule.
