(WSVN, CNN NEWSOURCE) An ugly scene outside a business known for beauty.
A woman in a Mercedes is caught on camera refusing to stop for police.
"This was a desperate woman at that point," said plastic surgeon Dr. Jose Soler-Baillo.
The woman is accused of looking to get some work done under someone else's name and on someone else's dime.
"When a lot of people want it, people are willing to go to the extremes for it," said Dr. Soler-Baillo.
Police say minutes before the confrontation, 28-year-old Paula Johnson was inside Results MD Cosmetic Surgery when the staff became suspicious of her plan for payment.
South Miami police wearing body cams were called in to investigate.
That's when she decided to make a run for it. Wearing nothing but a paper gown, she ran out a door and down the stairs. But down the stairs didn't lead to the ground level, so she hopped over the railing and into her car.
Officers met her in the parking garage.
Police made numerous commands, but there was no stopping.
"She slowed down for a second and then hit the accelerator again in an attempt to get away. As she went by them (officers), both of them were struck,” said South Miami Police Capt. Larry Corbin.
Both officers are OK and the woman behind the wheel is just as lucky.
"If she would've been fired upon, it would've been justified," Capt. Corbin said.
No shots fired and a week later, she is under arrest.
Johnson, with new blonde locks, locked up Monday afternoon after she surrendered to police.
She is charged with two counts of aggravated battery on a police officer.
Police say Johnson has a long criminal history. She's held on a $21 thousand bond.
