South Florida warehouse called 'ticking time bomb' by Lauderhill Fire Department

Posted

A warehouse full of illegal fireworks in South Florida has been labeled a ‘ticking time bomb’ by the Lauderhill Fire Department.

Firefighters recorded video which they say shows stacks of pyrotechnics complete with price tags.

Some cost as much as $500.

Police evacuated surrounding businesses after the discovery this week.

Among the items for sale were giant professional grade products.

Firefighters say the operation was particularly dangerous.

"They do have vehicles in there that they do work on, so the combination of the explosive fireworks, gasoline and oil from vehicles... It's a nasty combination,” said Lauderhill Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeff Levy.

Police are still determining what, if any, charges the owner could face.
