A dash camera recently recorded a cab driver getting robbed as his fare in Fort Lauderdale took a frightening turn.
"Sure it was scary. I'm 70-years-old and this never happened like that before," said Genrikh Blinster.
It happened July 3, just before 6 p-m on Northwest Second Street near Six Avenue.
You can see in the video Blinster and his robber struggle before he takes off with his cellphone.
But luckily the bad guy dropped the $360 he had in his pocket and didn't do serious damage.
"Thank God for that," Blinster said.
Blinster moved to the U.S. from Ukraine in the late eighties and has been working as a cab driver in South Florida for the past 10 years.
Police released the surveillance video Tuesday hoping someone will recognize the suspect and turn him in.
Blinster said he hopes they find him and justice is swift and severe.
But while the search continues, the grandfather of three with one more on the way says he enjoys driving and this won't stop him from doing what he loves.
"I've been working all my life. My wife, she's still working. Will she finish working? Maybe not. Now, what are they going to do? Sit at home all day at the pool?" he said.
As of Tuesday night, police have not identified the suspect. They're offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
