OPA-LOCKA, Fla. (AP) -- A small plane with three people and a dog aboard crashed Tuesday shortly after takeoff from a South Florida airport.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said in a statement Tuesday that all three people were taken to local hospitals for treatment. There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries.
Fire Rescue also said a dog was also on board with the passengers. The animal was treated at the scene by fire rescue teams.
The plane crashed between a canal and railroad tracks near Opa-Locka Executive Airport just north of Miami.
Television news footage showed the plane lying on its back in a grassy area. It appeared to be largely intact and was not on fire.
