The FAA says a Cessna 172 aircraft flying southbound over the shoreline went down into the Atlantic Ocean east of Dania Beach Saturday morning. The crash was originally reported as being off Fort Lauderdale.

Two people are confirmed dead.

Officials say the plane was possibly coming from Pompano Beach.

An oil slick and submerged plane was spotted around 10:30 a.m. and two bodies were located near the wreckage around 10:50 a.m.

The search for survivors by the U.S. Coast Guard was suspended after it was confirmed that there weren't more passengers aboard the plane.
