A Florida convicted felon who led deputies on a chase and ended up in a head-on collision is under arrest, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say 54-year-old Jacqueline Burge refused to stop when they tried to pull her over in the town of Nokomis, Fla.

They say she drove through a yard and struck a deputy's vehicle before merging onto Interstate 75. She lost control of her vehicle several times, struck another deputy's vehicle, and headed north in southbound lanes eventually causing a head-on collision, the sheriff's office said.

Burge tried to escape on foot but was captured. Deputies said a search of her vehicle turned up methamphetamine, prescription pills, narcotic equipment and several miscellaneous ID cards.

She faces several charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Investigators say Burge, who spent time in prison on charges from both Sarasota and Manatee counties, has more than a dozen prior arrests.

Her bond was set at $26,000.
