MIAMI — Police in Miami say a thief disguised as a UPS worker stole about $1 million worth of jewelry last month.

According to a news release, police said the robbery occurred at about 6:06 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Time Boutique Jewelers Inc. located at 24 N.E. 1 St.

According to detectives, the business owner told police that while he was inside the store, preparing to close for the day, he spotted someone at the door.

The business owner said the person appeared to be dressed as a UPS worker and carrying a box.

The victim said he buzzed the person inside the store, but within seconds the robber pointed a firearm and demanded he open the safe, which contained approximately $1 million worth of jewelry.

The robber then ordered the victim to get on the ground, at then struck the store owner over the head with a firearm. The thief then tied the victim’s hands and feet together and placed tape over his mouth.

The robber then searched through the business for a few minutes before leaving the scene. Miami Fire Rescue responded and treated the victim at the scene.

The robber was described as a black man about 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 200 pounds and last seen wearing a hat, windbreaker and pants.
