A retired Colonel is riding his bike cross country to raise money for fallen veterans' families and stopped along the Treasure Coast and  northern Palm Beach county on Saturday.

Ret. Colonel Gary West is currently on a 2,500 mile bike ride from Maine to Key West.

The money raised from his ride will go towards "Folds of Honor", which offers scholarships for spouses and children of fallen veterans.

Ret. Colonel West said, "I just felt like with this season of my life I wanted to give back in some way so I looked for an organization that would help the families of the vets the ones who are often times forgotten. I stumbled onto Folds of Honor and it resonated in my spirit that I wanted to do that."

Ret. Colonel West hopes to reach Key West by next weekend.
