A poacher with a long snout was seen stealing a watermelon from a field in Hendry County, but it’s not likely police will be able to catch the thief even though they have photographic evidence.
The bandit was an alligator and the picture was posted to the Florida Agricultural Crimes Intelligence Unit Facebook page on May 13.
At least one comment suggested the image was Photoshopped. But the Ag Unit said the picture is real and was taken by an Ag officer.
The photo has received numerous comments and has been shared more than 9,000 times.
