(CNN NEWSOURCE) A wild and dangerous high-speed chase took place Friday afternoon in Miami.
It reportedly began in downtown Miami and sped north through residential streets in northwest Miami-Dade.
There was no immediate word on why the man was running from police.
Several cruisers followed a red Mercury Grand Marquis until it crashed into a Dumpster.
Officers surrounded the car with weapons drawn but the man put the car in reverse in an attempt to get away and then slammed into a cruiser.
You can see in aerial video that two police dogs dive into the car after the man and help drag him out from the passenger side.
"They used incredible restraint because when that subject put that car in reverse, they could have easily shot him, and they took into consideration that right behind them was a restaurant with people dining," Javier Ortiz, with the Miami Fraternal Order of Police told NBC 6 Miami.
The man is now in police custody.
One officer was injured and a K-9 was hurt, NBC 6 Miami reported.
