MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities in Florida say a naked West Palm Beach man who was acting erratically in a state park has died in custody.
Brevard County Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Dave Jacobs said in a news release that 57-year-old Peter Robinson, of West Palm Beach, was detained for an evaluation Saturday morning after he was spotted naked in the water of the Sebastian Inlet State Park.
Jacobs says Robinson was incoherent and appeared to be under the influence of a substance.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It's unclear how he died.
Authorities say Robinson had earlier evaded police, who tried to stop him for driving erratically in the Indian River Shores area.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating Robinson's death.
