SILVER SPRINGS, Fla. -- A kayaker's day on a Florida river was interrupted by some rambunctious rhesus macaques.

The kayaker was cruising along the Silver River when the monkeys decided to dive into the water. They created quite a racket, too.

Rod Guynn, of Ocala, videotaped the daredevils at the end of October, according to WESH.com.

Once they made the plunge, the monkeys swam to the other side of the river.

At least 300 rhesus macaques live in Silver Spring State Park and some of them carry diseases.

Experts say the species is rapidly breeding and could double in population within five years.
