(NBC) - Dashcam video shows the moments a South Florida police officer was chased down an interstate 75 by her ex-boyfriend.

Officer Ashley Abreu and her ex-boyfriend, Roberto Zaldivar, had been involved in a domestic situation at their home

That's when a witness recorded Zaldivar chasing officer Abreu while she was in her police vehicle.

According to a police report, the altercation began after Zalidivar accused Abreu of cheating and then allegedly assaulted her.

A nearby driver, Austin Conley, said he decided to start recording when he noticed something wasn't right.

"To me, by everything that I observed, they knew each other by the way the officer reacted, the way the driver of the sedan reacted, that's just what I observed. I guess that's what made my alarm raise even more because it was an unusual situation. That's not something that an officer handles every day, someone that they know. So, I was like, let me call 911 just in case," said Conley.

Zaldivar was arrested and charged with battery by strangulation and burglary with assault or battery.
