(NBC) - A construction worker was badly injured Monday when he was struck on the head while working on the 49th floor of a Miami high-rise.

The worker was struck by some type of machinery at the construction site in Mary Brickell Village.

Officials said a rescue team had to lower him from the 49th floor to the ground since several floors of the building are incomplete.

The worker's identity and exact condition were unknown.

A witness said the worker had a laceration on his head that was wrapped and a collar around his neck.

The witness also said the worker was moving before he was put into an ambulance.
