MIAMI BEACH, Fla.-- A Miami Beach man has confessed to stabbing his wife to death and leaving her body to decompose in their living room.

Police arrested Russel Allen Ewing after neighbors reported a foul odor coming from the apartment.

The 53-year old opened the door naked while holding a knife, which may have been the murder weapon.

In an interview after his arrest, Ewing said he was arguing with his wife over finances as he was taking kitchen knives out of his bag.

When he turned around to face her, he accidentally stabbed her in the abdomen, according to his statement.

He covered the body with a blanket because he was afraid, he said.

The victim had been dead for ten days when police responded.

Ewing has been charged with second degree murder and is currently being held without bond.
