A Palm Beach County driver will likely think twice the next time a crossing guard gives an order.

Elizabeth Jean Boynes ignored a crossing guard’s commands to turn right at SW Martin Highway in Palm City near Hidden Oaks Middle School Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office says Boynes wanted to make a left turn and challenged the guard with her car when she didn’t get her way.

Another driver caught the scene on video which showed the guard running backward to avoid being hit.

Deputies later caught up with Boynes, who said she is a retired police officer from Arizona.

Deputies quoted her as saying, "wow, crossing guards have a lot of power here in Florida."

Boynes was arrested for battery and transported to the Martin County Jail. Her bond was set at $750.
