A man who jumped 70 feet from a Tampa overpass during a DUI stop early Monday morning managed to survive, suffering a broken leg and wrist.
Around 2:15 a.m., Tampa police officers made a traffic stop near the Columbus Drive and North 50th Street overpass on Interstate 4.
A police report said the driver suddenly sprinted off during a field sobriety test. After a short chase on foot, the man jumped off the overpass to a grass median around 70 feet below.
Police said the man's injuries aren't life-threatening.
Criminal charges are pending.
Tampa police have not released the identity of the man.
