JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A woman sentenced to five years for neglect in the death of her 21-month-old son has received another seven years for an unrelated drug case.
The Florida Times-Union reports that 26-year-old Lonna Barton and her husband, 42-year-old Christopher Barton, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges related to a September drug bust. Christopher Barton received three years.
The Bartons' son, Lonzie, was reported missing last summer. After months of fruitless searching, Lonna Barton's ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old William Ruben Ebron Jr., led investigators to his remains in January. He pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and received 20 years.
Lonzie's remains were too badly decomposed to determine a cause of death. The ex-boyfriend said the child drowned while being left alone in a bathtub while he and Lonna Barton had sex.
