CAPTIVA, Fla. (AP) -- A jet skier has been killed in a crash near a Captiva Island resort.
Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement that the crash happened Monday night near South Seas Resort.
Officials say the unidentified victim's watercraft hit a pole and he was thrown into the water. Several agencies arrived at the scene to search for the victim, whose body was later found. The man was wearing a life vest.
It's unclear if the man was a guest at the resort. Officials did confirm that the jet ski he was on was a rental.
