A man accused of a wrong-way, fatal hit-and-run crash in July 2012 on Interstate 275 near Interstate 4 in Central Florida has been arrested in Spain.

Christopher Ponce, 26, had been on the run since May 2013.

He was located and arrested at a bus stop by Spanish police.

Deputies said that Ponce was impaired and going the wrong direction on I-275 near I-4 when he hit 20-year-old William Angel head-on. The collision killed William and injured two passengers.

In 2013, while on house arrest and awaiting trial for DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, Ponce cut his ankle bracelet and fled.

According to deputies, Ponce was listed on Interpol, the world’s largest international police organization that enables police around the world to work together.

Ponce was also featured on “The Hunt with John Walsh” which first aired Aug. 3, 2014.

Extradition has begun and is expected to take several months.
